Food Project Following fundraising at the Brickjam event in Cardiff in January 2015 and with the support of the Waterloo Foundation we began a project to provide meals (tiffin) for children. The children can stay in school for six hours without a meal - their parents being unable to afford one. Hungry children learn less well. Brickjam2 (January 2017) helped fund a new phase of our food project. Additional support has also been provided by the Waterloo Foundation. Brickjam 3 was held on 25 January 2019 in Cardiff. BCS has had a link with Siddhimangal School for many years. In the wet season (May to October), when our regular school is closed, some of our students, who have stayed in the Kathmandu Valley receive additional coaching in partnership with this school. We also run a preparatory class for nursery age children. Overall, some 150 children are benefitting from the project. Thanks also to those who have supported the BCS by attending talks given by various Trustees. Talks by Trustees Please contact us if you would like one of our trustees to speak to your group. New School BuildingsAs the brick workers move to new areas when the clay is exhausted, our project has changed sites too. To stay flexible we rent, rather than buy, land and we use a temporary building which can be moved according to where the need is. Our current school opened in December 2012, a partnership between supporters in the UK, Belgium and Nepal.
